As I said I have been playing with win 10 tech preview (TP)
for about 30 minutes.
The Install got started through a installer stub and
restarted the pc and downloaded the 2.7g with windows update, a very
interesting was to do a new OS. Oh wait Mac does that! The first time I tried
it failed... So I guess and disable Microsoft Security Essentials, and tried it
again… Welp, it worked! About an hour or so, I was introduced to what
looked like a Window 8 desktop. But to my astonishment when I hit the Windows
icon where the start button use to be… I met the new Windows 10 TP interface. Which
looks like win 7 had drunken sex with a barely legal windows 8, and had a just
slightly smarter than them love child.
One thing that we found that
control panel and other features of the Start button were missing… But we found
them by right clicking on the Windows button, and lookie lookie what we found! Nearly
everything I was looking for quicker then before. Needless to say
I was impressed! Bonus points for Command Prompt as admin!
One of the many things that annoyed my with Win 8.x is if
was even near the metro interface everything was FULL SCREEN. Well not any
more! It had the restore, minimize, and close buttons on the top right like
every normal window! Even metro control panel.
One of the features I saw previewed on Microsoft’s preview video was the multi-desktops. Which remind me of Ubuntu, and other Unix/Linux OS’s.
It responds as expected, but it’s nice to see Microsoft steal something that is
useful!
One thing that I would kinda disappointing it that cool Aero
trick by tabbing through the windows and watch them shuffle them by… well that’s
gone! L It
was only window dressing (pub kinda intended), but still it was a cool feature.
So all in all I like what I see... I am looking forward to getting close to release!
Well that’s all for now the more I play with it the more I
will haphazardly review!
